News from Romanija!
Congratulations to Igor Milošev and Damir Lukšić who designed and realized the ferrata on Crvene Stijene in one of Bosnia and Herzegovinas oldest (trad) climbing area Romanija, behind Sarajevo/Pale.
The ferata is rated B/C and 350 m long with a vertical difference of 160 m. It contains 4 vertical sections of up to 30m and the highlight – a cable bridge suspending between 2 walls. The distances between the steps are not too long, so it’s equally suitable for beginners as well as more experienced hikers and mountaineers.
It is truly a best practice example – A great diverse line, it is well marked, with an info table and gold-standard materials. The elements are made up of 12mm cables which is DIN standard for Via ferratas. All steps and handrails are made of 16 mm galvanized steel.
If you are in the area, enjoy this safe and exciting new addition to BiH mountaineering

Sadrži 4 vertikalna presjeka do 30 metara i vrhunac – kablovski most ovješen između 2 zida.
Ako ste u tom području, uživajte u ovom sigurnom i uzbudljivom novom dodatku bh. Planinarstvu

Glamoč – Highland heritage tour #3 Glamoč – Highland heritage tour #3 / Glamoč – treća tura u sklopu projekta Nasljeđe planinskog krajolika:
The Glamoč area highland is not only famous for its potatoe varieties but also very rich historically. The land has been inhabited at least since the neolithic times and many artefacts big and small have been found and well preserved – From remians of Illyrian villages on the Glamoč field over Roman times basilicas to the castles and gravestones from the middle ages and beyond, which make up to the character of this beautiful cultural hotspot.
This tour starts with an introdcution to the fascinating history of Glamoc by local historian and author Sinisa Solak. Then our experienced guides will take you to the remains of the 14th century fortress just above the city center with a great view over the highland. We’ll continue the hike through the thick forest which is often filled with a variety of mushrooms. In case you’re already hungry we can arrange a local catering with hearty homemade lunch at the picnic area before Busija lake. Afterwards we’ll follow a romantic stream to Busija lake where we can refresh before we take the final walk to the biggest Islamic headstone graveyard in Bosnia Herzegovina. Truly a fascinating sight, that lies well preserved in the middle of the Glamoic field. After we walk back to the city for a drink and/or some food.
This tour was created during our Highland heritage project, together with the young, aspiring guides Marija Marković (Hipi Duga Čarapa), Mirko Ubović, Nemanja Petković and others.

Livno – Highland heritage tour #2 / Livno – druga tura u sklopu projekta Nasljeđe planinskog krajolika:
The Livno karst field highland is the biggest of its kind in Europe. It has a unique endemic flora and fauna and has been settled since at least 2000 BC. Livno, the capital of Kanton 10 was first mentioned in the 9th century and lies nested under the surrounding mountains on the southern end of the Highland. It’s at a crossroad between the Adriatic coast and inland regions of Bosnia, Dalmatia, Herzegovina and Krajina.
This tour includes a guided tour of the remains of the old town on the spectacular cliff amphitheatre high above today’s center and the Bistrica spring emerging from the Rock face. A highlight is the offroad drive to Mount Cincar where around 800 wild horses are roaming freely. Our experienced guides know the population very well and will take you to meet them with enough time to experience the presence of these beautiful creatures and learn more about them. For the ambitious, a hike to Cincar peak (2006m) rewards with spectacular views over Europes biggest karst field. A short 4×4 ride then takes you back down to downtown Livno which has plenty of bars and restaurants to refuel.
This tour was created during our Highland heritage project, together with the young, aspiring guide Marin Mamuza.

The Highland heritage project aims to make a small positive change in Kanton 10, where unemployment is high, the small population dwindling and divisions and discrimination widespread. On the other side, the region is known for it’s hospitality and is rich in immensely underestimated and underpromoted highland landscapes, pristine forests and mountain ranges, which have a clear potential for the development of small-scale sustainable tourism.
Our local guides from Drvar, Grahovo, Glamoc and Livno received a training in Social media and Tour guiding and created 4 local tours. The tours were finally tested by hosting each other and infrastructure improvements were done in all locations to increase the touristic value and enjoyment.
In the medium term we hope these touristic products enhance economic opportunities for locals and strengthen regional cooperation through entrepreneurial bonds.

We’ll restore the ecosystem of climbing areas & minimize climbers ecological impact:
?Planting 1000 trees
? Bird protection system
♻️ Garbage collection action
? Building & marking trails to combat erosion
Project description:
The project is about restoring Climbing areas in Bosnia & Herzegovina and minimizing the ecological impact of climbing
Project description:
Krajina area is home to a rich collection of different ecosystems such as canyons, valleys, hills, mountains, meadows, rocky cliffs etc.
The main focus of the project is the climbing sites which are threatened by increasing number of visits by climbers following the publishing of a local climbing guidebook. Lack of paths and access to crags has led to destruction of habitat, including the removal of trees, moving of boulders, damage to the fragile vegetation and nesting birds on the rock faces, lack of designated BBQ and open fire areas which has led to uncontrolled wildfire and the leaving of litter, much of it plastic.
Working with local climbing groups and other visitors, this project aims to educate visitors and locals about their behaviour in the wild, and to protect wildlife through the installation of signs to inform climbers to avoid nesting birds, planting 1000 trees, collecting the trash along 15km of approach path, and developing more obvious, fixed trails.
Tadaaa! Drvar – Highland heritage tour #1: / Drvar je naša prva tura u sklopu projekta Nasljedje planinskog krajolika(više o tome u nastavku teksta)
Drvar, with good sense, carries wood (Drvo) in it’s name – the thick, old-growth forest which defines the terrain, has been the main industry for over a century. Obviously locals are deeply connected to it. In Yugoslavia, the city was named “Titov (Tito’s) Drvar” in rememberance of the multiple large-scale Nazi offensives in WWII against the Partizan resistance movement. Tito and his group succesfully evaded the hunt, hiding in the two caves around the city, which in hindsight marked a big part of the later course of WWII.
This tour of Drvar’s includes a visit of Tito’s cave(s), a short hike to the beautiful hydrological Karst phenomenon Bastasica spring and Bastasi cave, a lunch at Ethno selo Dodig and a off-road drive and hike to the pristine mountain Klekovaca.
This tour was created during our Highland heritage project, together with the young, aspiring guides Lazar Mihajlović and Milutin Maksić.
